Just published: Alise Tifentale, “Completing an Unfinished Sentence: On the Collaboration between Sophie Thun and the Archive of Zenta Dzividzinska,” in Sophie Thun. Trails and Tributes (ex.cat.), edited by Christin Müller and Torsten Scheid. Hildesheim: Kunstverein Hildesheim and Verlag für moderne Kunst, 2023: 49-55.

The catalogue accompanies the exhibition “Sophie Thun - Trails and Tributes” at the Kunstverein Hildesheim, Germany, May 8 - July 17, 2022.

For this catalogue essay, I revisited the collaboration between the artist Sophie Thun and the archive of my mother, the artist and photographer Zenta Dzividzinska (www.artdays.net) which I had the unique opportunity to witness and facilitate.

The collaboration, initiated by the curator Zane Onckule, resulted in Sophie’s exhibition “I Don't Remember a Thing: Entering the Elusive Estate of ZDZ” at the Kim? Contemporary Art Center in Riga, Latvia (July 15 – September 12, 2021).

Art historian Līga Goldberga worked as an archivist in this project and after the closure of the exhibition, went on to supervise the incorporation of Dzividzinska’s archive into the collection of the National Library of Latvia.

The essay was commissioned by the curator Christin Müller for this publication.
